History

Established in 1927, the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory, then known as the Nursery School, had a total of 13 children enrolled. Its original location was in the former home of the president of the university, Dr. H.Y. Benedict, at 109 W. 26th Street. In 1967, the Nursery School moved to Wooldridge Hall at 604 W 24th Street where it stayed until the building was scheduled to be torn down in the early 2000s. In the 1970s the Nursery School changed its name to the University Child Development Laboratory to better reflect its mission. Then, in 2002, the Lab School moved to its current location, in the Sarah M. & Charles E. Seay Building (SEA) at 108 E Dean Keeton Street as was given a new name, the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory (PPFCFL). The PPFCFL currently serves up to 116 children aged 18 months through 6 years of age each year.
