Amy Lara is our new Health, Safety, and Nutrition Specialist. She holds a bachelor's degree in Health and Society from UT Austin. Amy has been working as a Research Assistant for the Children's Learning Institute at UTHealth Houston, conducting developmental assessments with preschool aged children for federally funded education studies. Previously, Amy worked at Foundation Communities, helping underserved families from all parts of Texas secure health insurance. Amy is bilingual in English and Spanish, and I hopes to learn more languages. She has a strong interest in social determinants of health and a passion for health promotion and nutrition. In her free time she likes to hike, swim, bake, and relax with her cats. Amy is excited to become a part of our close-knit community have the opportunity to focus on health and well-being in an early childhood setting.
