Kari Chevalier holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Education degree from Arkansas State University. She is a former public school teacher with early childhood certification. In addition to teaching, Kari has experience working with children, families, and adult learners across diverse settings, including church programs and the foster care system. From 2024-2026, Kari served as our Health, Safety, and Nutrition Specialist, managing essential behind-the-scenes, licensing-related tasks. During the 2025-2026 school year, Kari was also the lead teacher in our afternoon 3's classroom. Kari is passionate about developing curriculum around children's interests and fostering a strong sense of community in her classroom. Kari will loop up and teach our afternoon 4's class for the 2026-2027 school year.
Kari grew up in Maryland with her sisters but got to Austin as fast as she could. She has lived in Austin since 2009, with a two-year hiatus in Tampa. Kari was a competitive cheerleader in college! She has been a foster/adoptive parent for five years. In her free time, Kari likes to be with her husband and their four children. She also enjoys reading and playing board games.
